The Shiatsu Society Ireland
The Shiatsu Society of Ireland was set up in 1989 to promote and regulate the professional practice of Shiatsu in Ireland. It provides standards of professional practice of Shiatsu in Ireland and it is a member of the European Shiatsu Federation.
The Society is the independent regulating body for Shiatsu in Ireland. We ensure our members are fully insured and have received their practitioner level training from regulated Shiatsu Schools in Ireland and abroad.
All practitioners, general or registered, who are members of the Shiatsu Society are fully insured and bound by the Society’s Code of Ethics and Constitution
The Shiatsu Society holds a register of practitioners, each of whom has been assessed by a panel of experienced teachers and practitioners of Shiatsu and are given the letters, RPSSI, Registered Practitioner of the Shiatsu Society of Ireland and use the initials .
We work to promote Shiatsu and ensure excellence in safe practice of all Shiatsu practitioners in Ireland. Wherever you see the Shiatsu Society Seal you can be assured that the practitioner is a member of Shiatsu Society of Ireland and is current with standards of practice including ongoing professional development.
What is Shiatsu?
Shiatsu is a unique form of body therapy. It uses the diagnostic area of the Hara, plus Acupressure Points and Meridians found in Traditional Chinese Medicine to treat each client individually for their specific health needs.
Unlike other forms of body therapy, a qualified Shiatsu Practitioner must have completed at least 500 hours of training with an approved Shiatsu School before they can offer treatments as a Shiatsu practitioner.
